Improved Honors Test Essays
As I mentioned in a post last month, I developed a worksheet for my Honors students to use in preparing for their test essays, and posted it online for their convenience. So far I have graded roughly a quarter of their essays from Wednesday's tests, but they are easily their best work so far. Their ideas were much more thought out, much more specific, and much more meaningful than most of what I had seen previously. I think it is necessary for me to teach these students to be good historical writers - I can't just expect them to reach that level on their own. This worksheet has really proven to be a useful tool in doing that.
